Turtle Island Made

The term “Turtle Island” refers to the land mass of North America. This includes Canada, the United States, and Mexico. It is one of the creation stories for many tribes, as a way to explain how the land came to be. I encourage you to conduct your own research to learn some of the various stories that have been passed down for generations.

The Artist

My name is Candy (Awanookwe) and I am Ojibwe from Minnesota, a member of the Mille Lacs Band (Misi-zaaga'iganiing). I have a love for all things creative. Whether that is designing websites, digital prints, social media posts, regalia, t-shirts, whatever it may be, I wanted to have a name that reflects that my products are designed and/or made by an indigenous creator. So everything that is posted for sale on my site is Turtle Island Made.
